Who is Dr. Crippen? An e-mail from Trevor Wainwright Hi, Who is “Dr Crippen” and why is The Guardian newspaper engaged in repeatedly attacking the ME patient community? Time to find out. It is said that 'The Guardian' newspaper is required to take the name and address of anyone who submits an 'article' to be published. This is done for obvious reasons. Following yet another Guardian article by the mysterious “Dr Crippen” who now routinely uses his space on the Guardian website to denigrate the ME community; it has been decided that enough is enough. There is now an initiative under way to try to find out who this mysterious Dr Crippen is and also why the Guardian is so negatively selective in its coverage of issues concerning Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The question is being asked as to why readers of the Guardian do not have the right to know who this doctor is and why he hides behind the title of “Dr Crippen”? Stephen Ralph from MEActionUK has put together a letter to the Editor of the Guardian in an attempt to get the name of this coward hiding in anonymity. Stephen’s letter also tries to establish why the Guardian is so intent on being derogatory towards a sick and disabled group of patients. He is hoping for signatories to back him in this and he is currently collecting your names and basic details of where you live to add to this letter. Professor Malcolm Hooper has very kindly offered to give his support to this letter. The 2nd draft of this letter can be viewed here. http://www.meactionuk.org.uk/Guardian-Rusbridger-2nd-draft.htm Annette has kindly agreed to help. If you wish to add your support to this letter then please mail Annette Barclay. Thanks very much. Trev (Prisoner Cell Block ME) Wainwright |
